“Steve Weichert has always brought his perfectionist streak to his singing, his guitar playing and his song writing. He has now put together a group of like minded and very skilled musicians whose playing always yields to the needs of the songs. It is within this context that Steve's forty plus years of writing, playing and singing make his performances all the more memorable now”
                                  - Neil Kingsley, writer and producer

Steve's parent's felt music was a necessary ingredient in bringing up their three sons in a well-balanced and nurturing environment. Steve began his musical training on the clarinet and played in the junior high school band. His junior year in high school he received a Gibson acoustic guitar for Christmas and started playing folk songs immediately with the help of the Mel Bay chord book. Less than one year later, he wrote his first song. His introduction to folk music was through the sounds of Peter, Paul, and Mary who brought in songs from the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, etc.

Since those early days, Steve has played with many different musicians in about a half dozen different bands as well as by himself, and he has performed a wide array of music from those early folk songs to Led Zeppelin covers. For about 15 years, Steve hardly played at all after a personal tragedy befell him while living in Tulsa in the mid 1980's. He is back at it again now, and he has just released a new album of his own original work.

Steve Weichert’s music is often described as soulful, eclectic ballads with a jazz twist. Steve draws from several genres of music including folk, rock, blues, and jazz with some crooning thrown in for good measure. He has released 6 albums dating back to 1975. Born and raised in Tulsa, OK, he is now living in Austin. Steve’s current album is As Always In Love.
